PSPA Ba-Himmat Buzurg Program: Empowering Senior Citizens in Pakistan:

PSPA has launched the Ba-himmat Buzurg Program . In Pakistan, particularly in Punjab, the public sector has provided limited support for the elderly population, leaving many of them economically and physically dependent on others. Most of the available support is targeted toward formal sector employees with pensions, EOBI, Workers Welfare Fund, or Employees’ Social Security Institutions, which creates a coverage gap for many employees and the elderly population at large.

The primary goal of PSPA Program is to enhance the socio-economic well-being of economically disadvantaged elderly individuals in Punjab. It aims to achieve the following objectives:

  • Improve the social life of poor elderly individuals by providing them with a dignified social pension.
  • Enhance the economically disadvantaged elderly people, ensuring they can meet their basic needs more effectively.
  • Reduce the dependency of poor elderly individuals on their social network, empowering them to lead more independent and fulfilling lives.

Through the Ba-Himmat Buzurg Program, the PSPA aims to create a support system that uplifts and honors the elderly, improving their overall quality of life and fostering a caring society for senior citizens in Punjab.

Conclusion

The PSPA aims to support the well-being of elderly individuals aged 65 or above, so they can live with dignity and without financial uncertainties. The program provides monthly financial aid of Rs. 2000 to eligible elderly women who are not qualified for the Ehsaas Program (BISP). If the eligible woman passes away, male family members aged 65 or above can become eligible for the program. This year, Rs. 2,400 million has been allocated to support the program. The program is currently benefiting 82,000 elderly individuals in Punjab, significantly enhancing their lives by providing crucial financial support. This initiative acts as a lifeline by addressing the needs of the most vulnerable members of society, particularly the elderly. It ensures that these seniors can fulfill their financial requirements, enhancing and improving their quality of life.

The Ba-Himmat Buzurg Program has undoubtedly made positive changes in the lives of senior citizens and has the potential to bring about lasting change. As the program continues to grow and reach more individuals, it has the power to significantly improve the well-being of the elderly population throughout Pakistan. It is heartwarming to see a program that recognizes the importance of uplifting and supporting senior citizens in their later years.
