BISP Increased 25 Percent Stipends New Update
BISP Increase in Payments
The Beneficiaries of the Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) in Pakistan will receive a 25 percent increase in their payments, starting from March. This increase in payments is a positive development and will help to provide much-needed support to the poor and vulnerable households, especially during the ongoing inflation. The government of Pakistan must continue to ensure that social protection programs like this are effectively reaching the targeted populations and that the resources are being used efficiently to reduce poverty and inequality.
25% Increase in BISP Instalment
In a span of 16 months, the Benazir Income Support Program has achieved significant accomplishments. BISP increased the number of women benefiting from the Benazir Kafalat Program from 760,000 to 900,000. BISP raised the allowance from 7,000 to 8,750 rupees, following a 25% increase.
Direct Payment Method by BISP New Benazir Social Protection Account
A groundbreaking decision was made to initiate a pilot program (Benazir Social Protection Account) for a novel payment model. This model aims to empower Benazir Kafalat beneficiaries by enabling them to receive their funds through bank accounts. The cash assistance will be directly transferred to these beneficiaries via their bank accounts.
This pilot program is set to launch in four specifically chosen districts within the country. If successful, this innovative model will pave the way for beneficiaries across the nation to have the option to open bank accounts with institutions of their preference.
Benazir Mobile Registration Center Vehicles Launched
The Gov has granted approval for a proposal to employ mobile units for the registration of individuals in Balochistan and other distant regions where accessing BISP centers posed challenges. Members emphasized the need for special focus on Balochistan due to its unique geographical conditions. The Chairman of NADRA, present at the meeting, was tasked with increasing efforts to facilitate the issuance of CNIC cards in the remote areas of Balochistan.
